Creating the Perfect Wedding Day Timeline
One of the most important, and most underestimated, elements of a stress-free wedding day is a thoughtfully crafted timeline. After coordinating wedding flowers and floral design Miami for hundreds of celebrations, at venues across Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Brickell, Coconut Grove, Wynwood, throughout Miami-Dade County, Broward County, and Palm Beach County, we've seen firsthand how the right schedule makes everything feel effortless.
As a luxury wedding florist Miami, we're intimately involved in your day's logistics, from the first flower delivery to the final finishing touch before you walk down the aisle. Here's everything we've learned about building a wedding day timeline that protects your flowers, your sanity, and your memories.
Start With the Ceremony Time
Every great wedding timeline is built outward from one fixed point: the ceremony start time. Everything else flows from this anchor.
For outdoor Miami ceremonies, whether at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, a beachfront venue on Miami Beach, a Fort Lauderdale waterfront location in Broward County, or a Palm Beach estate in Palm Beach County, we strongly recommend starting no later than 5:30 PM. Golden hour light across South Florida is genuinely magical, and it makes both portraits and wedding florals look extraordinary.
Build in Buffer Time Throughout
The single most common timeline mistake we see across all three counties, Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, is assuming everything will run on schedule. It won't. Add 15 to 20 minute buffers between major events. This is especially critical for floral design Miami setup, which is often happening while the venue is simultaneously being transformed.
Prioritize Golden Hour
If stunning photography is a priority, structure your timeline around golden hour. The hour before sunset in South Florida, whether you're in Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, Fort Lauderdale, or Palm Beach, produces a warm, saturated quality of light that makes both portraits and bridal bouquet details look incredible.
Floral Delivery & Setup, A Detailed Guide
Personal Flowers (2-3 Hours Before)
Bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and hair florals need to arrive 2 to 3 hours before the ceremony begins. This timing applies whether we're delivering to a getting-ready suite in Brickell, a beachfront hotel in Miami Beach, a resort in Broward County, or a private estate in Palm Beach County.
Ceremony Florals (3-4 Hours Before)
Ceremony arches, altar arrangements, aisle installations, and chuppah flowers need 3 to 4 hours of setup time. We coordinate directly with your venue team, whether at a Coral Gables estate, a Wynwood loft, a Fort Lauderdale waterfront ballroom, or a Palm Beach County resort.
Full Venue Design with Installations (4-6 Hours Before)
If your wedding includes large-scale floral installations, suspended floral clouds, living walls, full tablescape design, we need 4 to 6 hours minimum. Whether we're setting up in Wynwood, at The Biltmore in Coral Gables, at The Breakers in Palm Beach County, or at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach, we arrive with a detailed setup plan.
The Reception Timeline
Cocktail Hour (1 Hour)
Cocktail hour florals, bar arrangements, cocktail table centerpieces, escort card displays, are typically set during the ceremony. Guests across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County should walk into cocktail hour immediately surrounded by beauty.
Dinner, Dancing & Celebration
Allow proper time for dinner and a minimum of 90 minutes to 2 hours for dancing. The energy of a South Florida wedding, whether in Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach County, peaks on the dance floor.
